Macanudo Robust Hyde Park
I picked up one of these thinking that a fuller bodied smoke from
Macanudo might be a good thing. Here are my impressions:
In a blind taste test I dont think that you could tell this from one of the
mild Macs. Its flavor profile is similar to the maduro line. I really feel
like the "Robust" label is misleading in this case. The only time that this
smoke separated itself from its so called milder brethren is during the
final quarter. If you have the patience to smoke it below the band you will
notice a little kick to it. It is marketed as Medium to Full flavored, mild
to eventually medium would probably suit it better.

Pretty close to my experience with these. I try to keep the Old
Fashion 2nds of this particular smoke (#550 I believe) around in
quantity for fishing smokes.

Hutch,
Where do you get the Old Fashions from? I wasn't aware of them. Those
Robusts at a better price might be worth having a few of.

I know that www.mikescigars.com has a pretty good stock, at good
prices, but the last time I checked they didn't have the 550's. You
might give Mike a call though...or Mickey may chime in with a source.

Mike's Cigars is where I get mine, and if I understand correctly, Mikes is
the importer for them, so they should have the complete line available, and
the lowest prices.

New blend or old blend? AFAIK the Mac robust line was reblended not too
long ago, so it may be worth finding out if you had the new or old blend.
Either way, i for one, like all macanudos.

I agree with you. I like the Mac. line, esp. the Maduros. They are a nice
smoke to relax with. I think they are priced too high. The Robust was a
newer one. They are stronger toward the finish than the standard macs but
not truly what you might expect in strength from the "Robust" label.

Just noticed Holts made a big deal in their latest catalog about the
new Robust blend. I agree, I like the Macs when a mild cigar is in
order. BTW Fulcrum, enjoyed the article on Cuba.
