About a week or two ago, I posted asking for recommendations for little
cigars. Partly that was due to my lack of time lately to sit and have a
serious smoke, but partly also it is because I'm trying to dump
cigarettes altogether. So I wanted something flavorful that fit nicely
into the hand. Someone here recommended the Arturo Fuente Exquisitos
(4.5 x 33).

They can be hard to come by, but I happened upon them at a store I
never visit. I need to go back there this weekend because the store has
them mismarked--at $1.30 each!

Anyhow, these are Dominicans and are available in both natural and
maduro. I chose maduro. It's a pretty flavorful small smoke, though
every single one I have starts off with a tight draw for the first few
puffs. When it opens up, however, it's nice. This is a medium-bodied
with that slightly cocoa taste I associate with most Fuente maduros.
Nothing complex about it, and the flavor doesn't change over the course
of this short cigar, but it's nice for a 20-minute smoke. I thought a
33 ring gauge would be too small, but this somehow seems just the right
size when I'm smoking it.

Overall, I'd give this a B. I doubt I'd choose it if I weren't pressed
for time, but it makes a great
driving/walking/I-will-kill-the-next-human-being-I-see-if-I-don't-get-a-cigarette
cigar.

Now that's not very honest. <g> Actually, these are only a $1.70
retail.

Hi Rob.
Nice choice in your cigar and kudos to the whoever recommended it to
you as the A F Exquisitos are one of my favourite 'all around' smokes.
like yourself i chose and prefer the maduro. a friend of mine who
manages a very fine tobacco shop here in daytona beach florida
introduced me to them some years ago and i have enjoyed them ever since.
you are quite right in stating that they are great
driving/walking....etc. cigar. i find them to be a wonderful thing while
fishing or just relaxing on the boat with a cold frosty while the sun
sets. the shop i go to has a year round supply of both the natural and
maduro and they sell for 2.09 per stick. well worth it still for this
fine little 'gem'. Skyhawk mentioned they also come sun grown. i will
inquire about this later when i go to the shop as i have yet to see the
sun growns on display in the humidor. but now you have put me in the
mood for one of those little 'black beauties' so i will close for now
and indulge in one as soon as i finish the papaya glazed grilled
grouper, rice and steamed cut green beans in wine i made myself for
lunch. have a safe and pleasant weekend and enjoy your smokes.
