This may be old news but I learned an in interesting lesson recently. I have to travel to the UK a few times a year for work and on my last trip I decided to check out the cigar selection at duty free in LHR on my way home. They had a few nice options but the prices were not any better than the local shop I drop by in Windsor.
I learned that there are two taxes in the UK. The general duty which is trivial and the tobacco tax which is monstrous.
The lesson? If I really want a cigar, just buy it in the local shop. If I want more, buy them in the local shop and take the rest home.
